REYNOLDS FAMILY ON ASSIGNMENT/GUATEMALA
GREETINGS FAMILY AND FRIENDS
FROM MY DEVOTIONAL
My devotional this morning was interesting Isaiah 66:12 “I will extend peace to her like a river…
Peace like a river!
The ancient world would probably define peace as absence of war. Now I would define peace as an absence of noise or disturbances a tranquil state…nope, not life a river! But God’s definition must be different because His peace is like a river. A river, fast moving, could be dangerous, turbulent and you could name a few more adjectives.
How does this equal peace: in the natural a pond is stagnant, no moving water. Hmmm, Jesus did not compare peace to a pond: so…movement brings His peace. As we move into Jesus’ presence, we are stirred, moved about, tumbled some, to become more like Him. And he said, that will bring His peace and then His life will gush forth from us.
So where are you at today pursuing peace in His river or a pond?
FREE METHODIST CHURCH
Wow!!! We have had wonderful hard working teams!!!
Free Methodist Church of Hillsboro IL returned this year for their 5th year of ministry outreach. They spent 2 nights, 3 days in the villages. Hosting 3 days of medical clinics in a very needy area. Installed 30 stoves; those of you who have done this know it is not just installing the stoves but some pretty intense hiking takes place to be able to install the stoves. A very precious time of ministry in the villages beside the clinic and stoves. In sharing the word, praying with people and playing with the children. Everyone’s life was touched. They also had several days at the youth center painting and hanging out with the kids and sharing the word in the different Bible studies. Also there was a lot of physical labor done at the ministry house, cutting trees, moving sand, sifting sand, digging ditches just to name a few of the fun activities they enjoyed. Thank you Free Methodist Church!
Michaela who had spent the summer with us returned to the state in August. We cannot thank her enough for all her hard work this past summer. She was an incredible blessing to the ministry and to us as a family. Thank you Michaela we look forward to your return…
LIVING STONES CHURCH
The next team from Living Stones Church in Litchfield IL arrived 2 days after the previous team. They also moved a lot of dirt and other fun activities at the ministry house. At the youth center they all had an opportunity to share their testimonies at the different Bible studies. One morning John and the team leaders woke them at 2:00 AM…yes, that’s in the morning…to go on a prayer walk, there were a few murmurs. But upon returning from the prayer time and in the days following it became a highlight of their time here. They also spent 2 days and 1 night in the villages putting in stoves. It was awesome seeing God touch young lives for missions…
Silas graduated from high school this week!!! He plans to enlist in the Airforce when we return to the states. That does not seem possible that our last one is leaving!!!
A big need we have right now is income to run the medical clinics; Rafael our nurse earns $335.00 per month, he lives out in the village with his wife and daughter; basic meds for each month are $150.00; Doctor Peter (our son in law) visits the clinics 2 times a month and he earns $135.00 a month. There are always extra needs…at present we are helping a young woman who in an epileptic seizure fell into their open cook fire (they have a cook stove now). One leg was severely burned, our nurse goes there every day to change and clean the dressings.
We arrived in the states the end of September and we will be here through January this year. Let us know if you would like us to come and speak in your Church, home group…we are so looking forward to seeing so many of you and updating you on what the Lord is doing here in Guatemala.
Please pray for us as we travel throughout the states…
Enjoy, his peace. Not as the world gives peace (John 14:27) but His peace
“Peace is not an absence of war. But a virtue based on strength of character” Baruch Spinoza
We love you all so much~
