REYNOLDS FAMILY ON ASSIGNMENT/GUATEMALA
GREETINGS FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Recently at the Zona we hosted a strongman event. One of the events was lifting rocks anywhere in weight from 100 – 145 lbs, carry them a distance and then lift them into the back of a truck. Here is the object lesson:
First, the contestants struggled with gripping the rocks, struggling to hold onto them to run to the truck with them in hand. Some spent most of their time just trying to pick up the rocks, never mind running with them. Lesson 1; how often have I done that with sin in my life, struggling to hold on to it, expending so much energy holding on to something that will only weigh me down. Once they got the rock to the truck and left it there, they could run so fast back to the line of rocks… only to begin the struggle again to pick one up and struggle to the truck yet again.
Hebrews 12:1,2 “…let us also lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…”
The race is so much lighter and easier when we lay aside our baggage, (sin) and run the race. The race is challenging enough without carrying rocks/sin along with you.
This was super fun!!! And lasted 5 hours! Eleven men and six women competed, special guest speaker Scott Stainer and Valley Christian Assembly from Seattle Washington. We had five events for the contestants to compete in…from bench press to dead lift, clean and jerk, carrying boulders to pulling a truck (the truck pull was a fail…but still fun to try). Then of course everyone got to hear the gospel…the main point of any event we do. And then of course some hotdogs…it was a great night of fun, fellowship and sharing the gospel.
HARVEST CHRISTIAN CENTER…DECATUR ILLINOIS
Thank you pastor Kirk and Jeanette Henneberry for your love and support. What an incredible team…First of all Pastor Bill returned, he is now 87 years young, going strong in the Lord. They accomplished so much: 2 days in the village of Pan Semaj, putting in stoves, evangelism, dramas, praying for people, and helping in the clinic.
At the youth center they did much needed cleaning and organizing, refurbished the carpet ball game, hosted a carpet ball & ping pong tournament, all while loving and encouraging the youth. Also working at the mission house!!! Hauling buckets of sand and block up the hill for the workers.
All this and much more in one week! We look forward to your return. You can view the dramas on our website www.crosscommission.org
ENCOUNTER CHURCH…HOTSPRINGS ARKANSAS
What a packed full week. New team but old friends. They worked hard on the security wall at the mission house, taught karate at the Zona, loved on the young people, and shared the word. They spent two days and one night in the village putting in stoves, sharing the word, loving on people, playing with the kids, a medical clinic and surgeries!!! This was an incredible fun filled, life changing week! We look forward to an ongoing relationship with you all…thank you…
We are so humbled by this endeavor the Lord has given us, it is such a huge undertaking. Please continue to pray as we reach out to approximately 4,000 people in these small communities with medical help. The needs are great but our God is greater still!!!
Belinda is still gaining weight and doing well. (Though she just had chicken pox!)
We appreciate your prayers…that we stay strong in the race set before us. Our staff: Carlos & Kimmy, Edgar, Abner, Ruso, Nancy and Loyda. Pray that we do not grow weary, that we keep the prize before us…which is Jesus. May our lives glorify and bring many to His glorious salvation.
Thank you to all who come and work with us spiritually and physically encouraging us with your love and gifts. And thank you to those of you who have not been able to come yet.. For your love and support! Be caught up in Jesus today…
We love you all so much~
